Brighton

On Sunday, I fell in love with Brighton. It’s brash and bold and just a little bit weird, with it’s quirky shops and the Lanes and the impudence of the pier, packed with tourists. We found the city, surprisingly, not to be all that busy – except along the water front and as mentioned, on the pier, where it was heaving.
Do:

  • go to the pier, for the atmosphere and the view of the city, and for the feeling that you got when you were little and there were helter skelters and roller coasters and ice cream in abundance. Or give it a miss, and avoid the crowds and save money.
  • go to the Pavillion. At least walk around it, and boggle a little at how somebody decided to build this, in all of its audacious self-importance.
  • walk through the Lanes. Take your time, go into the random little shops.

Food and drink:
  • Oki-Nami, for good Japenese-fusion food. There isn’t a massive selection of sushi and sashimi, but the food is excellent, along with the presentation, service, and menu. Seriously, seriously recommend.
  •  Lovefit, for anyone who likes healthy grub and protein shakes. Large selection of delicious juices and smoothies. Does good cake.
  • Gelato Gusto, for all of your ice cream/sorbetto needs. If you like ice cream, this is the place for you. If you like sorbet, this is the place for you. If you’re not big on consuming sugar, or are on a diet, or are for some reason inclined to skip this place, don’t. Seriously epic ice cream and sorbet, with seriously epic amounts of choice and flavours. Go. Consume. Enjoy.
